A local care home is looking for volunteers to support residents with their activities
We are looking for volunteers who would like to come into the Home and work with our Activities Organiser to spend some time with our residents. We have a variety of elderly abilities and disabilities in the Home, Interests of Music, Gardening, Art/Craft, one to one’s and anything that they can turn a hand in would be most helpful for us.
Maybe talking to them about the local area, reading the newspapers for those who have sight impairment, taking residents to town, and offering support with any other activities/skills such as gardening, art, craft or even playing the piano.
If you have a particular interest or skill why not introduce it to the residents?
Skills
Empathy towards the lifestyle of residents.
Patience, kindness, and spare time. – It would be beneficial to have continuity of volunteers so residents become familiar with regular visitors.
