Calling all good neighbours in Stansted. Volunteers needed to join a local scheme that mainly provides transport to appointments e.g. surgery, chiropodist, hospital etc, but also collects prescriptions, helps with shopping and provides advice and/or contact details for other community organisations.
The group assists only Stansted residents, where no other help, through family or friends is readily available.
Times are flexible and varied (mostly weekday daytime) – no regular commitment, volunteers can help as little or as much as they wish and are rarely needed more than once every 2-3 weeks.
Volunteers are also needed to join the rota for handling incoming calls and matching with suitable volunteer helpers.
Skills Needed:
Volunteers must have a caring attitude, be good communicators, have patience, a sense of humour and plenty of common sense.
A telephone is essential and drivers need to be car owners and have fully comprehensive car insurance. All applicants are required to have a DBS check given the contact with often vulnerable adults.
