Walking Buddies is a project to match a volunteer with an individual who may be battling with loss of confidence and/or anxiety. This project helps people get back outside, in the fresh air, taking exercise. Loneliness, isolation and lack of confidence are currently big issues for many.
This service is particularly aimed at those people who have lost their confidence and now want to start getting back out into the community. Walks take place 1-2-1 at a time and date to suit. You will have the same buddy assigned for each walk, with the aim of building friendship.
Any Uttlesford resident who would like a volunteer buddy to walk with in their local area can apply to the scheme.
All volunteers are DBS and reference checked and have been provided with appropriate training.
To register your interest either make a referral on Uttlesford Frontline or email connect@ucan.org.uk and we’ll be in touch.
